Author, Simon Garfield wrote a really nice piece in the L.A. Times about his love for typography, and his (and others) disdain for the new London Olympics logo. I would have to agree, it really is a low point in design for the Olympic history. And once you see what Lisa Simpson is doing to Bart, you can't unsee it.
Garfield, references the other logos, so I thought, let's take a look at the others and see how poorly this London one stacks up. Here's a list of every logo from the summer and winter Olympic games from 1924 to 2012. My personal fave is Athens. The blend of traditional with the handwritten logo is simply beautiful.
Typezilla is a project by Los Angeles-based ad agency art director, Marcus Wesson, that takes a critical, and somewhat obsessive, look at the use of typography in the world of visual communication.
